Germany and Czech Republic tour
Two neighbouring countries with very ambiguous historical relations
DAY 1: Arrival Munich + first orientation
Arrival to Munich airport, afternoon at leisure.
In the evening you will be taken to a short panoramic bus ride around Munich in order to get the first impression of the town. The ride ends by the Olympia Tower – we will visit the tower to see the town from bird eye view and then have a dinner at local restaurant.
DAY 2: Munich city tour + afternoon at leisure, or Oktoberfest
In the morning be picked up by your guide for a half day city tour of historical Munich. The tour will be concluded in a local restaurant in the city centre with lunch.
In the afternoon have free time at leisure, or if you come in the autumn, set off to explore the famous Oktoberfest!
DAY 3: Partnachklamm, Neuschwanstein Castle, Alpsee
Set off early in the morning and drive with your guide towards the Alps. The first stop today is at the wild gorge called Partnachklamm. Walk through the 700 metres long and 80 metres deep gorge full of waterfalls that was incised by a mountain stream called Partnach.
Later continue to see the magical fairytale castle Neuschwanstein. The castle is one of the iconic landmarks of Bavaria and it was built by the king Ludwig II of Bayern in late 19th century. Nowadays it is a tourist magnet attracting thousands of visitors from all of the world.
Then we continue a very short drive to the bank of the lake Alpsee. Walk around the lake in order admire the nice scenery with Alpine peaks reflected in the water. In late afternoon return back to Munich.
DAY 4: Cesky Krumlov
In the morning check out and drive to Cesky Krumlov (UNESCO, 4-5hrs drive). Enroute make several stops for refreshment and lunch.
Upon arrival check in to your hotel for one night. In the afternoon be picked up by your local guide for a 2,5 hrs walking tour of the city centre, started by the visit of the Castle that used to belong to the rich and influential Rosenberg family. Tonight, enjoy a Medieval theme set menu dinner in a local restaurant.
DAY 5: Trebonsko – Cervena Lhota Chateau
Today, we will be discovering the picturesque countryside of southern Bohemia – namely Trebonsko – a protected area full of ponds, woods and meadows, with huge tradition of fresh water fishing industry. The guide will point out the largest ponds (e.g. Rozmberk pond – the biggest one in the Czech Republic) and will explain the sophisticated system of man-made waterworks built back in the Middle Ages. We will make a short walk following one of the thematic paths around the town. For lunch we will stop in Trebon in a famous fish-oriented restaurant Supina.
After lunch we continue some 45mins to the north until we arrive to the photogenic chateau Červena Lhota. Its name suggest the distinct red colour of its walls. We will arrange for an interior visit. Early evening arrive to Prague.
DAY 6: Historical Prague
In the morning get ready for exploring the capital of the Czech Republic, which has been rated as the most beautiful city of Europe! The stunning Gothic, medieval, and Art Nouveau architecture adorned the city. The guide will pick you up for a full day walking tour of the Old Town and the Jewish Town of Prague and the Prague Castle.
The day will be concluded by a river cruise with dinner on Vltava River.
DAY 7: Day at leisure, or Kutna Hora excursion
Today enjoy a free day, or meet up with your guide and depart for a private tour to Kutna Hora, the medieval silver mining town to the east of Prague – designated a UNESCO world heritage site. We will visit the St. Barbara’s Church, then, we move on to the nearby Sedlec where there is the Cathedral of Our Lady at Sedlec and the famous Ossuary.
DAY 8: Dresden
Check out of Prague and drive towards Berlin. Enroute stop in the Saxonian town Dresden for a city tour + lunch. One has to admire the sensitive restoration of the historical centre, that was almost destroyed by Allied bombing in 1945.
DAY 9: Berlin – historical tour
In the morning join your guide for a first part of the general sightseeing of Berlin tour. Start in Reichstag area, from here continue the walking tour – places seen and visited: Holocaust Memorial (The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe), Brandenburger Tor, Reichstag, Unter den Linden…
In the afternoon start the private excursion to Potsdam by van, visiting Sanssouci Plaace and Schloss Cecilienhof.
DAY 10: departure
