This tour combines sightseeing of both river banks of Vltava River in the centre of Prague
The morning will be dedicated to the Prague Castle area and the Lesser Town of Prague. We will start the tour by Strahov Monastery, visiting its fascinating Library that played an important role in Czech history. There are about 200 000 old prints, mostly from the period between the 16th and the 18th century, around 3000 manuscripts and 1500 first prints. There are two splendidly decorated halls: the Theological Hall and the Philosophical Hall often used by film makers as a venue for movie setting.
Alternatively we can visit the Loretto Church, a large pilgrimage destination in Hradčany district. It consists of a cloister, the church of the Lord’s Birth, a Holy Hut and the clock tower with a famous chime.
Then we continue towards the Castle itself. You will discover its courtyards, enter the majestic St. Vitus Cathedral and marvel along the little shops in the Golden Lane. Once finished we will walk down the castle hill and through the streets of the Lesser Town of Prague (crossing the baroque Waldstein Garden) we will slowly arrive to the Church of Our Lady Victorious, housing the Baby Jesus of Prague statue.
Nearby the Charles Bridge we will make a lunch break to get some strengths before continuing further. After lunch we cross the Charles Bridge and visit the Jewish Quarter of Prague – known as Josefov. Your guide will acquaint you with the history of the former ghetto and of the oldest synagogue in Central Europe – the Old New Synagogue. You will tread among the gravestones of the centuries old Jewish Cemetery and visit some of the synagogues that are parts of the extensive and unique Prague Jewish Museum complex.
Then we continue through narrow cobbled streets of the Old Town of Prague. The tour will be concluded at the Old Town Square, where we will summit the Old Town Hall Tower that offers incomparable views of the centre. Do not miss the Astronomic Clock beating every hour!
