7 days programme covering the most important religious sites of the Czech Republic.
Even though nowadays the Czech Republic belongs among the most atheistic countries of the world, its rich religious history has left many significant monuments here. This itinerary covers the most important ones.
The tour can be also extended to Poland, for example. Within two days we can cover the splendid historical town of Krakow with strong Christian and Jewish roots and an important pilgrimage site Czestochowa, known for the famous Pauline monastery of Jasna Góra, which is the home of the Black Madonna painting a shrine to the Virgin Mary.
DAY 1: arrival to Prague, transfer to hotel, free evening
DAY 2: full day visiting Prague focused on religious monuments: the Prague Castle area (St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Royal Palace, St. George’s Basilica) and Prague Loreto Church, the Church of Our Lady Victorious with Baby Jesus of Prague, the St. Nicolas Church.
DAY 3: full day visiting the two Prague monasteries: Brevnov Monastery and Strahov Monastery, and Vysehrad settlement.
DAY 4: half day excursion to the important pilgrimage site Svata Hora by Pribram. Afternoon at leisure
DAY 5: drive out of Prague via Kutna Hora (UNESCO) – tour of the town, incl. St. Barbara Church and Sedlec Cathedral. Overnight in Olomouc – the important religious centre of Moravia and the seat of archbishops.
DAY 6: touring Olomouc + the pilgrimage site Svaty Kopecek
DAY 7: return to Prague and departure, or extension to Poland.
