While it’s true to say that the Czech Republic is far better known for its beer, wine is also produced here and its quality is improving. It deserves appreciation since the country’s largest vineyard area is on the same latitude as Newfoundland Island in Canada!
The best wine producing regions can be found in Southern Moravia.
White wines from the area have won awards at international competitions. Some of the most popular types are Veltlínské zelené, Müller-Thurgau, Ryzling Vlašský and Moravian Muscat. The red wines (e.g. Frankovka and Svatovavřinecké) are not so widespread which is due to the climate conditions. The second wine region is in Bohemia with the biggest expansion occurring during the 16th and 17th centuries. Some vineyards are located even in Prague. Wine tours to Czech Republic (sometimes in combination with other Central European countries) are becoming increasingly popular.
| For your tour we can take an advantage of our close personal contacts with many wine makers, recommend the best producers to you, give you a professional lecture on Czech wine making, arrange for a local folk band to accompany you throughout the evening and take care of all transfers, accommodation and program. You also must not miss the atmosphere of a real wine cellar.
